Our Sun the Nearest Star (On Grade)_01

The Sun is the center of our solar system. The solar system has 8 planets. It also includes all the other objects that orbit it. It is by far the largest object in our solar system. It is massive. Its mass is 99.8% of the solar system. All that mass means there is a lot of gravity.

Our Sun is the center of our solar system. All the planets bow to its gravity. They all are held in their orbits by the Sun’s gravity.

If the Sun is an average star, why does it look bigger than the others? Imagine you take a basketball and place it inches in front of your face. It’s all you can see. If you take this same basketball and place it at the far end of the school grounds, it is just a small speck. Has the basketball changed size? Of course not. When things are close to us, they appear large. When they are far away, they appear to be small. Other stars are very far away from us. This is why they seem like specks of light in the night sky.
