“Mary, Mary, come quick! I found them,” Sherry whispered in an excited voice. “I did not mean to find them. I was just looking for my ball glove.”
“What? What did you find?” Mary asked as she ran down the basement stairs.
“Our birthday presents! Here they are, all wrapped up.”
“Maybe we can figure out what they are!” Mary said with excitement.

The two sisters looked carefully at the identically wrapped packages. What could it be they wondered? Clothes? New tablets for doing their homework? They had to find out. The more they stared, the more frustrated they became. The packages revealed few secrets. They were purposefully wrapped. “We can figure this out,” said Mary. She always was the most curious of the twins.
“Okay,” said Sherry, “I cannot stand not knowing either. But we must be quiet.” The girls knew that their mother and father were still asleep. They had time to solve this mystery before their parents’ alarm rang.
The two girls worked to find what might be the content of the boxes. “The two boxes are the same size. Are we getting the same thing?” asked Mary.
It was hard to tell if she thought that was good news or not. The girls were identical twins. But they were as different as night and day. Sherry liked baseball and building things with her dad. Mary liked Facebook and dance class.
“I hope not,” said Sherry as she made a sad face. The girls already knew that just because the boxes looked the same, the size and appearance of the boxes truly gave no proof the gifts were the same.
The girls tried everything they could think to figure out the gifts inside. Mary carefully shook her box. First side to side, then top to bottom. “Can you hear that?” asked Mary.
