G6-The Solar System Lower_Level_03

Scientists use tools to help them look at space. Telescopes are a type of tool they use.

Today, we even have telescopes in outer space that send back information to scientists here on Earth. Because of telescopes, a lot more is known about our solar system. Scientists think they even know how the solar system formed.

Proof suggests it formed from a big cloud of gas and dust called nebula. The pulling force of gravity drew the gas and dust into a small ball. As the nebula got smaller, it started to spin. As it got smaller, it spun faster. The spinning caused the ball of gas and dust to become flat. This model explains why all the planets are found in the flat disk shape. It also explains why they all circle around the Sun the same way.
