Speed and Direction Higher_03

Today, ships have many pieces of technology to help them navigate the world using distance, speed, and time.

The helmsman of our ship looks down often to check his tools and gauges. The console, like a car dashboard, provides a lot of information. It tells him the speed of the ship in knots. There is also a compass that gives him the ship’s direction.

Other displays tell him exactly where the ship is located. He will need all this information to follow the course that has been plotted by the navigator.

According to his tools, it will take about 4 days traveling at 20 knots until the ship reaches the Canary Islands. How long do you think it would take if the ship was only traveling 10 knots?
