Coping with Seasonal Changes (MS Approaching)_05

Other animals, like bears, have adapted another way to cope with changing seasons. Like whales, they eat a lot of food during the summer when food is available. They too store this energy they get from the food as fat. Instead of migrating like whales, they stay where they are. Bears have adapted an ability to hibernate. Hibernation is when an animal goes into a deep sleep. This helps them conserve their energy through the winter. When the weather warms the next spring, the bears start the process all over again.
