Some non-flowering plants produce seeds. You have seen seeds in apples and oranges. If you planted these seeds they may grow into new plants. New plants come from seeds.

Not all nonflowering plants will produce seeds. Some produce a structure called a spore. Spores are more hardy than seeds. They can survive in harsh conditions. Even after a long time they can grow into a new plant. Ferns and mosses produce spores.

Just like animals, plants have unique traits. You know that some animals lay eggs. Other animals give birth to live young. Plants too have unique ways in which they reproduce. Some produce flowers. Some plants do not. Some non-flowering plants produce seeds. Others produce spores. All plants are living things. Without them we could not survive. They provide most of the world’s oxygen. Plants serve as a source of food. Think of all the fruits, and vegetables you like. They all come from plants.
