Whoa! You notice the wind is picking up and the sky is getting dark. You know what these signs mean. You need to hurry home before the rains start. People can’t escape the weather. However, we can prepare for it. The key is knowing what type of weather is coming.

Knowing the current weather is important, but weather can change from day to day. What is also important is knowing what future weather may be. For example, what will the weather be like this afternoon. What will it be tomorrow or even three days from now?

Most people want to know the daily weather forecast to be prepared. It is part of a regular routine for many of us. It helps us decide what to wear. It also helps us plan for the activities you may do. How do we know what the weather will be tomorrow? Future weather gets reported by many sources. For example, you can watch the weather on television. You can also look it up on the internet. You can even listen to weather reports on the radio. Where does this information come from?

Most of what we hear about future weather comes from scientists. They make detailed observations of the weather. This helps them to make predictions of future weather.

For some scientists, it is their job is to study the future weather in certain areas. Scientists who study the weather are called meteorologists.
