Animals have to move. They need to seek out food. A plant cannot move by itself. It doesn’t have to. Plants make their own food. Do you think it is better to be a plant or an animal?
Plants don’t have to move to seek out food. Animals have to spend a lot of energy looking for their next meal. Being able to move means you can avoid threats. A plant cannot move, so does that spell doom for the plant? Hardly! Some plants are poisonous. Animals have learned not to eat them. Others have developed sharp spines.
The spines keep animals from getting close. All plants are able to reproduce. Not all plants reproduce in the same way. Plants can be divided into two groups. There are flowering and non-flowering plants. Flowering plants reproduce by pollination. This process relies on insects or the wind to move the pollen to another plant.
