G2- A Bridge of Ice? Lower Level -04

In the north, winters are cold.
Water in lakes and rivers freezes.
In some places, the ocean freezes.
The ice acts like a bridge.
It covers the water under it.
That is good news for people in Diavik
in Northwest Territories of Canada.
The frozen water becomes their roads.
Every winter, rivers and lakes freeze over.
These “ice roads” are vital.
Places like Diavik need these frozen roads.
Without them, they could not get the things they need.
