G3 Measuring Matter – Mass, Volume and Temperature_01

What’s the Matter?
You notice a cool breeze against your skin. You see trees bending. What is causing the cool breeze? What is causing the trees to move? That’s correct! It is air. Wind is moving air, but what is air?
The air is made up of tiny particles. These tiny particles are called atoms. There are many types of atoms. Atoms make up all the things we can sense. Atoms make up the air.
They make up the trees the air can move. You are even made up of atoms. Scientists refer to all these atoms as matter.
Matter is all around us. Your desk is made of matter. The food you eat is matter. Even the air you breathe is made of matter. You can think of matter as the stuff things are made of. Matter has both mass and volume. What exactly does this mean?
